About the Event:

Seven teams of three will participate in the Pictou County Progress Club’s Survivor Pictou Island on June 12th. The teams will be competing in 5 challenges to Outwit, Outplay and Out-pledge their opponents in games of endurance and conspiracy on beautiful Pictou Island.

The winner of Survivor Pictou Island 2009 will be the team with the highest total score at the end of the day on June 12. Each team's total score will be calculated by adding the Outpledge points and the Outplay points. The outpledge points are the dollar amount the team raises through pledges or any fundraising events the team holds. The outplay points are earned based on the teams performance in the five challenges to be held on June 12. Four challenges will occur on Pictou Island and the fifth will occur at the Frog and Toad in downtown New Glasgow where family, co-workers and friends can cheer their team on!!

The teams will be transported by ferry to the island on Friday June 12th to compete in four challenges. Although the event is closed to the public, challenges will be videotaped and footage shown at the Frog and Toad. 94.1 East Coast FM will provide live broadcasts providing updates on the event. Gene Mills and Anne MacGregor will emcee the full event.

The fifth and final challenge is open to the public and will be held at the Frog and Toad in downtown New Glasgow at 6:00 PM where everyone is invited to cheer on and pledge for their favorite team. Winners of the event will be announced shortly after the final challenge.

Funds raised will support Pictou County Early Intervention, the Pictou County Help Line, Special Olympics Canada and the Pictou County Progress Club and the charities they support.

Winning team will receive a beautiful trophy especially carved for the event by
